Tesoro Woods Flooring Environmental Attribute Guide

Environmental Attribute Guide

As a longstanding green flooring industry advocate aware of some of the environmental issues in the industry, Tesoro Woods has defined the language used to describe what makes our wood flooring products truly green. Below is an in-depth explanation of the symbols and language we use on our products.

Third Party Certifiers

Tesoro Woods believes that the Forest Stewardship Council® is currently the foremost credible forest certification program. We always use the proper “on product” FSC® labeling and their labels such as FSC® 100%, FSC® Mix, FSC® Recycled & the various current combinations. We also use, as required, their generic FSC® labeling on all marketing and information pieces without any actual product attached. This generic labeling does not, as required, detail any of the portions of FSC®, Mix, Recycled. Learn more about the Forest Stewardship Council® here.
FSC® 100%

All the wood in this product comes from forests that are certified well-managed per the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®). Qualifies as FSC® 100% & USGB LEED MR7.

FSC® Mix

This product is certified per the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) for “Mix Sources.” At least 75% of the wood in this product comes from well-managed forests; the remaining content comes from “controlled” sources—i.e. legal, non-endangered and non-old growth sources.

FloorScore_SCS_4C FloorScore®

The product has met the indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments.

The U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC) is the driving force of a green building industry, bringing together a diverse constituency of builders and environmentalists, corporations and nonprofit organizations, elected officials, concerned citizens, teachers, and students. USGBC is the developer and administrator of the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification program and the convener of the Greenbuild® International Conference & Expo.

LEED® certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home, or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health, including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
