Engineered Hardwood Indoor Air Quality

In North America, the indoor air quality certifying organization that has become the current engineered hardwood floor industry standard is FloorScore®. As a part of SCS, the same organization as the Forest Stewardship Council®, FloorScore® certified products are widely accepted as safe in terms of indoor air quality.

FloorScore CertifiedFor a healthy indoor climate it’s important that products used indoors have very low emissions and comply with the official FloorScore® standards. Products marked with the FloorScore® seal indicate that they have been independently certified by SCS to comply with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01350 standard, or CARB (California Air Resources Board). Today, California’s indoor air quality standards are the strictest in the United States. All Tesoro Woods engineered hardwood products meet this standard.

Low VOC Wood Flooring, Bamboo Flooring and Cork FlooringFurthermore, all Tesoro Woods engineered wood floors have been rated as either Low VOC or No VOC with respect to emissions of volatile organic compounds. All Low VOC products emit less than 0.005ppm (parts per million) volatile organic compound chemicals as standardized by the state of California. All No VOC products emit less than 0.001ppm (parts per million) volatile organic compound chemicals as standardized by the state of California. Attached are the Emissions Testing Report for Urethane Finished Hardwood Floors and the FloorScore Certificate for Tesoro Woods’ No VOC Wood Flooring, Bamboo Flooring, Cork Flooringengineered hardwood flooring products. Note: the concentration of an air pollutant (for instance, ozone) is given in micrograms (one-millionth of a gram) per cubic meter air, or µg/m3.
